Building on over two decades of leadership development experience, OCA-Greater Los Angeles Chapter (OCA-GLA) welcomes candidates to apply for the 2013-2014 Civil Rights Fellowship.  The purposes of the 12-month program are to:

  • Develop leadership through critical analysis, skills building, and mentorship on a local, regional, and national level to address social justice issues for Asian Pacific Americans (APA);
  • Provide a platform to engage with the community on issues that are critical to advancing the social, economic and political well-being of Asian Pacific Americans; and
  • Strengthen the national and local networks of OCA and their programming in leadership development, economic development, education, policy advocacy, and community building.

The Civil Rights Fellowship is an opportunity for the next generation of Asian Pacific Americans to develop their leadership skills, and to increase a deeper understanding of social justice issues that face the APA community. The Civil Rights Fellow works on advocacy issues critical to the Asian Pacific American community, participate in professional and leadership development programs, receive hands-on experience managing a community based non-profit organization, fundraising, website management and media relations.
